ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2005

Purpose: NonProfit Innovations, Inc. (NPI) is a nonprofit provider of technical assistance and management support to under-resourced nonprofit organizations through one-on-one consulting and outsourcing. NPI is grateful for the opportunity to help small and emerging nonprofits strengthen their infrastructure and programs at no or low cost.

In its second year, NPI has made headway in acquiring funding to put its mission into operation.

Program and management highlights include:

Programmatic

  • Partnered with the Harlem United, New York AIDS Coalition, NYC Dept of Health and Philliber Research Associates to propose to the Office of Minority Health a capacity building program for HIV/AIDS organizations throughout the Northeast United States.
  • Proposed to Medical Health and Research Association of New York City to provide technical assistance services to NYC-based HIV/AIDS organizations.
  • Proposed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Compassion Capital Fund to study the role and best practices of intermediary organizations in supporting faith- and community-based organizations.
  • Established relationship with Dr. Willie Tolliver, DSW of Hunter College, for future team approaches to funding applications. He is a researcher.
  • Ongoing development of a program to bring evaluation services to struggling and emerging nonprofits per conversations with the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation and the Jarve Commonweal Fund. We have approached 20 other foundations exploring their interest in these services as well.
  • Continued work with a government grant writer to assist NPI in identifying and responding to federal, state, and local Requests for Proposals for start-up monies.

Management/Administrative

  • Maintained our leased offices at 475 Riverside Drive, Room 540, NY, NY 10115.
  • Updated the NPI Personnel Manual outlining the organization’s guiding principles, policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • The board met quarterly. Highlights of its meetings include reviewing the audit and networking.
  • Advanced our work with the accounting services of Diane Weisenberg Accounting.
